Did you know? Some factoids...

Tavis Stanley, of the 604 records band THORNLEY, was in My Sister Ocean for one rehearsal. He and Eugenio had toured with the Shannon Fayth Band, and I also played a cover gig with him in Edson, Alberta. We asked him into MSO and he said yeah. We had one rehearsal and were prepping for a live show with him when he decided to move to Toronto. He said he'd still tour with us if we needed him. 8 months later, he was on the road with Thornley and the next time I talked to him on the phone, he was flying to LA to appear on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Appearing also that night was Al Roker and Anna Nicole Smith.

I also played with Tavis in the Julia Marshall Group.

Eugenio and myself were in a band called Cousin Henry that started in 1996. If you live in Edmonton, you likely heard the name for a while there... Cousin Henry opened for Sarah Harmer's band, Weeping Tile at The Rev. Also, Molly's Reach ( a great E-town band). Also, Fat Man's Belly. Fat Man's Belly's drummer went on to Fifth Season, who then became Social Code. Speaking of Fifth Season, Cousin Henry opened for them at The Urban Lounge also.

Eugenio was in a cover band called Lysterneva that opened for The Headstones in Brooks, Alberta.

Eugenio was in The Shawn Meehan Band, toured Canada and was in 2 music videos that aired in light rotation on MuchMusic. Shawn Meehan started the band Krome shortly after Eug moved to Edmonton again. The Shawn Meehan Band played with Edwin, The Grapes of Wrath, Bif Naked, 54-40, amd many other popular major label Canadian bands.

I was in an alt-country band called The Everett LaRoi Band. We toured Canada and played at the MuchMusic building on Breakfast TV.

I played bass for one show with Jay Sparrow (Murder City Sparrows) - we opened for Edwin and The Pressure at the Iron Horse. That was before he was in Murder City Sparrows. I also filmed the making of Jay's album Propaganda, which featured Jeff Martin from the Tea Party as a producer, and had a special appearance from Delores O'Riordan from The Cranberries. That was filmed at Metalworks in Toronto.

Eugenio and I went the the Grant MacEwan Community College music program. His specialty was performance, mine was recording engineering. We met lots of musicians there who still play shows today. Ben from Social Code and George from Portal being a few that we still see often enough.

Well, those are some factoids that you probably didn't know. When I was 14, I would've killed for a bio like this. Now we have it and we're still broke. Interesting.
