Haha. I did some jury duty last night, but it's not what you think. I was part of five people in Edmonton judging music from artists across Canada and deciding unanimously who gets some funding from a federal government sponsored program. It was an eye opening experience in many ways as well. Imagine the first episode of American Idol. It's a mix of very bad to very good. Some people you think, "They can't be serious..." Others you are amazed by.
I can't say who we judged due to a non-disclosure agreement. But I became a fan of 1 band who thankfully live in Alberta so we can play some shows together sometime.
One eye-opener was that some of these artists have acheived more success than I could hope to achieve in the next 2-3 years, and I had never heard of them. And despite all their success, they were still working joe-jobs and needing gov't funding. Ugh.
The music industry is a pool of people dreaming... spending money on their dream, spending time on their dream... and most give up. Those that don't give up either never succeed, or they do.
