I've got this recurring Bad Religion lyric stuck in my head...
"Once you convince yourself, the universe falls into place."
The rest of the song (No Substance) is somewhat negative, but ever since hearing that line, years ago, I've thought it was directed right at me. Now more than ever do I believe that the universe is falling into place for me. I've torn away the crap that filled my head about "how to make it in the music industry" and have really been able to feel good about why I even bother trying. This week has brought forth a series of events that tells me that I'm on the right track, and that hard work will be rewarded. I'm more excited than ever to be playing music, and some great things are on the horizon!
I did an interview this morning and was asked what sets us apart from any of the other thousands of bands out there... I said, "Honesty."
I can say that without any outside force influencing our music, it's about as honest and direct you can get. No labels, no A&R guys, no lawyers, no producers, no groupies... this music was written without a committee, and I can take both the credit and the blame for all the lyrics.
Just some random thoughts for the evening before I watch The Office.
