Canadian Music Week Part 3

This is us with our publicist Dulce. She rocks. She introduced us to some pretty cool peeps.

This is us with producer Steve Thompson Steve's Site and singer Talia Shewchuk. Steve knows EVERYBODY. It's sick. He just calls Clive Davis whenever he feels like it and only has 2 Grammy's. We had wine and chilled with him in Epic (the restaurant at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel) for about 2 hours. The next day, he introduced us to Sylvia Massy. Her Site. Her studio is a place I'd love to visit one of these days. A boy can dream.

Eugie and I enjoyed many things our last night there... one of them being a stogey.

My flash was off and I didn't know it until it was too late. I only had one shot to get this pic and I ruined everything... This is us with Australian girl group "Rain." In an elevator.

Us with a good friend from college, Rhonda Stakich. She was playing that Saturday night at Mitzi's Sister. Seen below... Check out Rhonda's great voice and songs at her myspace.

Well, all in all Toronto was pretty sweet. We met lots of people and had lots of fun. I think we'll try to make it back soon.

I'll be uploading the video from our showcase soon. Other than that, here's a band update for ya that was just sent to our mailing list.

MSO made it to the finals of the Kokanee Freeride Contest. Now the band competes this Wednesday March 28th at The One on Whyte. If you're in Edmonton, come cheer the band on and help them get on the bill at one of the coolest concerts in the country. The Kokanee Freeride in Jasper. $5. Lots of bands. Kokanee is cheap that night.

DETAILS FROM TORONTO

Well, we didn't win the $10,000. But the winning the trip to Toronto was a huge win in a lot of ways. We ended up meeting some pretty connected people and solidified some relationships with people that are so powerful in this industry it's not even funny. Only good can come from that. We only made it to TO because of you, so thank you a million times over. Oh, we also brought back the guitar that Brandon Williford won, so expect a photo of us with him when we give him his prize.

Deal signed with D2/Fontana North/Universal - NUCULARBOY hits Canadian stores in June

Well, one of the coolest things happened for the band this month. We signed a distribution deal. What does that mean? Well, it means that our CD will be in stores across Canada as of June 19th. We decided to release sort of a "best of" album... 3 tracks from our Silverwave EP, 7 tracks from the Beautiful Failures CD, and 2 unreleased tracks. Why? Well, we really only sold those CDs in the Edmonton area, so all this material will be new to the new fans we hope to make while we tour the hell out of Canada this year. For our local peeps, we'll sort something out if they already purchased the other albums... You'll find the new album cover attached.

The first single is Able Day Fashion Show... it's been delivered to rock radio and a video will be released in May.

Oh, and the album will be on iTunes and CD Baby for the rest of the world. For now...

and...

ABLE DAY FASHION SHOW IS GETTING AIRPLAY FROM VICTORIA TO MONCTON!

We need your help in this area now... Request MSO in your city as many times as you can. The single has been delivered to every rock station in Canada, so they have it, now they need to know there's a demand for it to be heard. We'll be touring to the cities that play our song the most, so if you want to see MSO in your town, the best way to get us there is to request the song as much as possible. If you happen to call a station that doesn't have it, tell em to email us to get it!

So, far the song has been featured in several markets...Which is cool. But, they mostly just play it by request or on their "indie music" shows... what we want is regular or high rotation. That'll really only happen once we hit the road but you guys can give it a kickstart by requesting the hell out of it now. We appreciate it!! Some stations have told us they will be adding it in regular rotation but if you request it, it'll let them know it's a good decision.

Maximum Fighting Championship commissions MSO to write music for fight night!

A while back, I did the voice-over for an MFC event... I just introduced the fighters and mentioned the sponsors, etc... It was pre-recorded with some ominous music and basically set an eerie tone before Yukon Jack from The Bear started MC'ing. Our song "I Used to Be a Hero" was played very loud as well. This was for 3000 people.

Well, it went over so well that the President of the MFC asked us if we'd write a song that they could use at every fight.

So, one of these days very soon, Eug and I will be getting together to write and record what will essentially be the theme song for the MFC. How cool is that?

We had the opportunity to check out the fight last time and it was a very fun experience. Having front row seats helps... :)

Well... that's it for now.

We want to thank you for your support and we look forward to hitting the road this Spring. We've been meeting so many new fans lately and some people have even said that MSO is their favourite band of all time... That is so weird to hear.

Peace and love, Holden
